Twelve children rescued from FORCED prostitution inThailand

Police arrested three people, including a 16-year-old, for procuring under-age girls for prostitution during raids in Nakhon Ratchasima and Kanchanaburi provinces on Tuesday night.

In Nakhon Ratchasima police arrested Piwat Boonmak, 27, and Nongnuch Khlongdee, 54, at their karaoke parlours in Phimai district.

Police freed 12 girls, aged 14-17 years, employed at the parlours, which provided karaoke as a front for prostitution, Pol Col Pumin Pumpanmouang, deputy commander of the Central Investigation Bureau’s Anti-Human Trafficking Division, said on Wednesday.

Each customer was charged 1,200 baht, with 900 baht going to the young girls, he said.

In Kanchanaburi, police arrested a 16-year-old female procurer in tambon Wang Yen of Muang district. The arrest followed the rescue of a 16-year-old girl from a local hotel.

Pol Col Pumin said the suspect contacted customers via Twitter and collected 300 baht from each girl.

She worked as a receptionist at pubs, and lured girls whose parents had divorced into prostitution, he said.
