21 Day water fast, what is it all about? Well, in short, it’s living for 21 days with no food and only drinking water.
I have been putting this off for some time now and finally, I have decided to start the fast and see it through.
As like many of us who come to Thailand… The land of dreams and hopes, I have spent much of the year drinking and eating a lot of food and saying that I will exercise tomorrow.
Always putting exercise off till tomorrow meant that I have gone from 84kg to 96kg and the fat has gone to the stomach. This is not good when I want to sun myself at the beach and I am walking around looking 6 months pregnant.
From Monday the 8th of July I will start my fast and am hoping to last the full 21 days, and if I feel good enough I might just go for 30 days.
I have been doing research on this for about a month now and many reports that I have seen and watched always says to start 2 or 3 days fast first… WEll, that is nothing for me as I regularly skip food for 2 or 3 days at a time, all depends on how I am feeling.
SO WHAT IS WATER FASTING
Water fasting is a period when a person eats no food and drinks only water. Fasting in this way may help with weight loss and to try and heal the body.
To make sure that water fasting is done safely, people should prepare properly and choose a good time to go without food, when the body does not require too much energy.
A water fast is when a person does not eat and drinks nothing other than water.
There is no set time that water fasting should last for, but medical advice generally suggests anywhere from 24 hours to 3 days as the maximum time to go without food.
Throughout history, people have undertaken fasts for spiritual or religious reasons. But, water fasting is now popular in the natural health and wellness movements, often alongside meditation.
WHY AM I DOING THIS
There are many factors to why I have decided to take on this challenge, and the main reason is to try and shred some body fat. The other reason is to try and heal my body as when you do a water fast it forces the body to heal when it would normally be concentrating on other things.
Am I scared? Yes, of course, I am worried and scared as I have also heard stories that people have ended up in hospital because they have not done the fast correctly.
There are no cheats in doing this, however, drinking too much water is also bad so normally about a gallon, a day should be enough and try to stay away from exercise or things that would cause more strain on the body. Try to take some time off and relax during your fast stage.
I will have regular updates during my fast, how I am feeling and how my fast is going.
I started the fast this morning and already I am feeling hungry, but I think that is more due to the fact that I am thinking about food that is making me hungry.
